A truck driver died Sunday after being hit by a semi while traveling on Interstate 94 near the Iowa-Michigan border.
The crash happened just before 9 a.m. in north Iowa, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The semi, driven by a 61-year-old trucker, was traveling south on the interstate when it hit a utility pole.
The truck driver was killed instantly.
The tractor-trailer driver was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, troopers said.
The semi was totaled.
No one was in custody in connection with the crash.
The Iowa State Police said they are investigating whether the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
