A new mattress company is to be launched in the UK.
A company called Bedside Commodities International is to launch in a £300 million ($430 million) deal.
A spokesman for the company said it would create “a brand new market and create jobs for people”.
This is the second big UK deal this year for the business, which has been struggling to get traction in the wake of Brexit.
It has been trying to secure a foothold in the market and to grow in other countries.
A previous deal, with a Chinese manufacturer, was also blocked by the EU.
A spokeswoman for the UK’s largest mattress manufacturer, UK Brands, said: “We have always been confident in our business and the way we want to run it.”
This will be a brand new industry and will create jobs, as we want the industry to be one of the biggest in the world.
“The deal with Bedside will see Bedside pay a £1.2 million fee and receive a 25 per cent stake in the company.
It will also buy the British company’s other mattress manufacturers and supply them to the UK, the spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman said: “The Bedside partnership with British company Bedside has the potential to be a world-leading business.”
It will provide us with the capital, the workforce and the expertise we need to grow our business in the future.”
More to come.
